At Room on the Row we pride ourselves on promoting home-grown talent. We are very excited to introduce Jen Rowland as our first featured designer. Jen grew up locally with her family roots in Ashurst Wood and Forest Row. Although Jen is now based in very urban Deptford, South London, her work is inspired by her childhood experiences of trips to Wakehurst Place and family picnics on the Ashdown Forest.
Jen screen prints vintage and hand-drawn illustrations onto beautiful natural fabrics for her range of lampshades, cushions and bolsters. She also designs a growing range of stationery, including notebooks, notelet sets and greetings cards, all printed on FSC certified paper.
By layering vintage illustrations with her own abstract botanical drawings, Jen gives ‘florals’ a new unisex appeal. She applies modern graphic prints onto fine, shimmering silks and unbleached Irish linens, creating pieces that are at once striking but easy to live with. Jen’s beautiful creations reflect where her heart remains, in our stunning local area.
